Query via email before sending a manuscript for editing. Include
details of your experience, and any publications (if any).
Advise the genre of your work, and a brief description.
Include the word count and an approximation of when you need the
editing finished.
Fees vary according to how much work is involved, so send the
first (approximately) 1500 words in RTF format so it can be
assessed. The less work involved, the lower the fee, and visa
versa.
If it becomes apparent that continuing with the edit is a waste
of time (Cheryl's) and money (yours) the edit will discontinue.
Reasons for this could include repetition of the same technical
problems through out the manuscript.
The quoted price includes one edit of the manuscript.
Follow-up edits incur additional fees.
Editing normally brings about suggestions and comments. If
you act on those and want further editing, this comes under the
realms of follow-up edits. Once the manuscript has been dealt
with and returned to the client (you), then the edit has finished.
The cost of follow-up edits depends on the work involved.
Format
Preference is for Times New Roman 12, double spaced, and black
font.
Format into RTF and send as an attachment. (See above re
querying before sending.)
When sending the entire manuscript, send as one whole file.
Don't break into sections.
Every writer has recurring patterns in their writing. Often, a consistent fault
will
pop up time and time again. It is a waste of Cheryl's time (and therefore
costs you more) if she need to make the same correction
constantly.
That said, she won't leave a problem - even a recurring one - without at
least indicating it. Therefore, she follows this mutually beneficial procedure: If, at
a
certain stage, she feels that she's identified all your recurring
issues, Cheryl will send the edited part of your manuscript back to
you. You then revise
the entire book, and return the (so far) unedited part to her.
This eliminates recurring issues and speeds up her work, thus
keeping the overall cost lower.

Payment is via PayPal,
